Dr. Stephanie Higgins is working in the capacity of a post-doctoral resident at Mid-Atlantic Behavioral Health under the supervision of Dr. Kathleen Cherry, Dr. Katie Pierce, and Dr. Traci Bolander. Dr. Higgins completed her pre-doctoral internship at Christiana Care working both with outpatient perinatal mood and anxiety disorders as well as in the capacity of an integrated health psychologist in a primary care setting. Dr. Higgins earned her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, an APA-accredited program. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Lehigh University. She is currently completing her postdoctoral residency to complete hours for licensure.
Dr. Higgins has diverse outpatient experience working in community mental health, private practice, and hospital settings providing both assessment and therapy to adolescents and adults. Dr. Higgins’ specialties include eating and weight disorders, women’s health, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, health psychology, chronic illness, trauma, and general mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and psychosis. While treatment is grounded in cognitive-behavioral theory, Dr. Higgins utilizes a culturally-sensitive, integrated approach to treatment utilizing techniques from DBT, mindfulness-based therapies, interpersonal psychotherapy, and family systems theory. She tailors her treatment to the individual’s needs and background for optimal outcomes.
