Ima Jean Smith earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Il. After working for a number of years at the Rockford Center and the psychiatry department of Christiania Care , she completed her master’s degree in mental health counseling from the University of Delaware. Since that time Ima Jean has worked in a number of different behavioral health settings. She also taught parenting for a number of years in the Avon Grove School District. For the last 10 years she has supervised the partial hospitalization programs at the Rockford Center.
Ima Jean works with children/adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She is comfortable working with a wide range of behavioral health issues including anxiety/panic disorders, depression, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, and trauma. Ima Jean utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques with an emphasis on meeting the client or family at their own starting point and helping them find a better path for themselves.
